Family Funtimes and Friends' Birthdays

Notwithstanding the fact that summer has taken it's sweet time to get here, we have been enjoying our free time with friends and family.

Mark and his lovely fiance Meghan stopped by for a visit a while back. We will be taking Emily across the border in a few weeks to witness their nuptials. We are really excited and expect to have some amazing photos to share.

Our friends' son turned one last week. His birthday was in a cool park that had sculptures of scenes and characters from popular children's books.

Melissa enrolled me into a letterpress / printing workshop with Jim Sherraden - the manager of a famous letterpress shop in Nashville called Hatch Show Print. It was one of the best days in a long time...

He has work on display at a museum here in Seattle. This is the poster for his lecture.

I went to Crystal Mountain with Bill yesterday. It's the best and most beautiful mountain ever - my new favorite place. It rained the whole time we were there, so I didn't take any photos of the actual mountain, only the lodges:

California Christmas, pt.1

For some reason, Melissa and I thought it would be a good idea to pack up the dog and drive to Southern California for Christmas...

This was basically the first 12 to 14 hours of driving (except it was usually snowing).

Plowing the I-5. They closed interstate 5 the day after we left.

First stop was Indio to hang out with Melissa's folks. Here's a shot for all you suckers that were snowed in - we were relaxing poolside in the desert!

Portland weekend

We went to Portland last weekend to visit Jeff & Natalie.

We had lunch at a cool bar. Jeff ordered a coffee drink that gets lit on fire.

This is the hallway of the Kennedy school. It's an old school house turned into a bunch of bars, a theater and a hotel. The guest rooms are the old classrooms and the bars are made out of the boiler room, detention room, closets, etc.

This was probably the slowest Halloween either of us have ever had. Melissa gave our friend Dan and his cat a ride to the animal hospital. I worked on a website. We didn't have ONE SINGLE trick-or-treater. That's fine with me.
