parks and BBQ

Melissa and I spent Saturday exploring Discovery Park - a 500+ acre park near our house.

This is the view at the beginning of the hike. The park is right on the water.

After hiking a mile or 2, you get to these "tree houses" or decks that are built into the side of the bluffs and overlook the water.

This is the West Point Lighthouse and it's at the very tip of the park.

Lots of drift wood on the beaches.

After hiking about 20 minutes down some random trail, I came across this meadow with a picnic table in the middle of it. I can't imagine how they got it there.

That evening, our friends Bill & Barb had us over for a BBQ.  They have a really beautiful house, an amazing son and a cool dog with shiny hair.

Their neighbor is a local celebrity that has a gardening show on the morning news (Ciscoe Morris).  This is his house.

Their dog Cheddar.

Thanks guys, we had a great time.

Today (Sunday) we watched movies then went hiking/exploring at a place called Golden Gardens. There's a great beach with bbq's and bonfires, and up the hill is a maze of trails through a dense wooded hillside. We'll definitely be spending a lot of time here.

All for now!
