weekend stuff

Here's what we did last weekend:

Our friends Maxwell and Amy were in town for a Gypsy Jazz festival (Maxwell is a musician).

They saw the locks.

We had the best meal I've eaten in Seattle at Matt's on the Market. You sit right in front of the famous market sign.

Melissa and I with a van load of drunk sorority girls in the background.

The next day Finch went to the dog beach.

Then over to Bill & Barb's for a BBQ! (Ron, I'll post the photos I promised you soon). We had too much fun, and had to spend the night in their guest quarters.

Spent most of Sunday recovering from the BBQ and watching movies.

But it was so nice out, we went to the park and beach for sunset.

Met up with Maxwell & Amy today before they went to the airport. We went to Ye Old Curiosity Shoppe.  Did you know jumping beans are moth larve?

Thats a fly on his nose.

Suede

Melissa loves this show called Project Runway.
I think this guy is one of the goofiest looking people I've ever seen.
His name is Suede, and you can see the moment where he realized he was getting kicked off the show (2nd down on left)...

dryer & rain

We got a new dryer and I had to pen Finch up during the delivery. He hated it...

and summer is officially over...

Sunday stuff

We had brunch with Jeffrey and Dan at that cool Mexican restaurant I wrote about a while ago.

The cool bar again (see August post titled "Sea Fair weekend").

The tequila cabinet is cool too, but the glass was reflecting light.

Went to the Capitol Hill farmer's market to load up for the week.

Melissa tried cheese.

The REI store has a waterfall in front of it.

And a canoe named "Necky".

Afterward, we went to the park.

Finch found some crap to roll around in.

This was a good Sunday.

Video & sushi

We've been video chatting with the Baker's and the Cadman's a lot lately. I like this sequence of the Jonny's.

Little Jonny kept making these funny gestures behind his dad.

You can share photos over video chat - here's Pam Anderson poping out of her dress.

Melissa and I are hooked on this place called Blue C sushi. The sushi comes around on this conveyor belt, and you pay according to the color of the plate. Those guys in the center are always making fresh plates and it's really fun to do.

Yep, summer is over. According to the news, Fall officially starts in one hour and one minute.

Always nice to end with a picture of the dog.

Marymoor park

I've been busy with the job hunt this week, so I owed Finch a big day out. I've heard that Marymoor park is supposed to be the best dog park ever, and it is...

He was very sweet in the morning.

The dog park is along a river. There's lots of places they can jump in the water.

There's tree-lined, wood chip paths.

And big, open meadows.

And more open meadows (notice the grey sky - I guess summer is over now).

He met some other pugs and small dogs.

His eyeballs were coated in dust and wood chips at one point. This is pre-wood-chip eyes.

iPhone & Okkervil River

If you notice a decline in photo quality, its because I got a new iPhone and have been using it to shoot photos instead of our camera. Here's a bunch of random stuff I've shot over the last few days:

A few nights ago, we had a 3-way video chat with the Baker family and the Cadman family.

I got a new sweater vest for some job interviews. I like sweater vests and will add them into my permanent rotation.

A drive over the floating highway to a job interview.

Bill and Barb had us over for dinner, wine and dog walking.

Cool sunset from Bill&Barb's yard.

Melissa and I went to see Okkervil River & Sea Wolf last night (some bands we like). Before the show, we had dinner and drinks on the sidewalk in Belltown.

The Army Surplus store has really aggressive, life-sized action figures in the window.

This guys in a fox hole.

Outside the concert hall.

Hard to see, but this is a really cool bar inside the show - and no one is there! Totally different than LA, where you'd have to wait 30 minutes to get a drink.

Someone left a PBR shrine at our table.

This was our view. It looks like we're far away in this photo (it's a cell phone camera), but we were actually pretty close. We had a table on the 3rd tier of the bar, so we could see the whole stage. Again, this would be impossible in LA, where you would be shoulder to shoulder fighting for a view.

I got an onion & kraut laden hot dog from a street vendor and we walked back to the car. The Pike Place Market is nice when there's not 10,000 people milling around.

More as it happens...
